Introduction

Kia ora, I'm Kathryn. I'm glad you're here.

I'm an experienced therapist, based in Queenstown, offering online and in-person counselling for teens and adults struggling with anxiety, depression, trauma and life transitions.

I love my job. I honestly believe that it is a privilege to work alongside people as they face life's tough moments.

I have worked with numerous clients over the years who have experienced issues with anxiety, depression and other mental health symptoms; self harm; trauma; and drug and alcohol issues.

I am clear that you are the expert on you, but that I can work with you to make better sense of your world and your story, and think about how you can make healthy decisions to achieve the future you deserve.

I offer all my clients empathy, discretion, humour (weird as that may sound!), and support.

I work with both adults and teenagers.

If you want to know more or make an appointment, feel free to contact me.

For several years I was the Learning and Development Co-ordinator for a leading addiction provider. During my time in that role I developed and delivered multiple workshops on issues such as boundaries, mental health, clinical risk management etc.

I can offer workshops or presentations to groups of professionals wanting to better support their staff, health professionals wishing to better identify or manage mental health and substance abuse issues, or groups of students needing to better understand the impact of substance abuse on them and those around them.

Available workshops include managing anxiety; intro to mental health and addiction; managing change; substance use and abuse. Talk to me to about your specific needs and I can develop an appropriate workshop for your team.

Most common issues I support people with:

  • General Mental Health: Supporting those experiencing depression, anxiety, loss, grief, and other emotional challenges. I create a safe space to gently discuss your experience, building understanding and developing your kete of skills

  • Trauma & Sexual Abuse: I work with those experiencing the impact of both childhood and adult trauma to understand the current issues, and restore their sense of safety and control.

  • Alcohol and Drug Abuse: I work in a non-judgmental way to support you to address the drivers of your substance use and reduce it's impact in your life
  • Stress and Burnout: I will work along side you to look at the contributors to your stress and your underlying patterns that can contribute to the stress and burnout, as well as look at practical strategies that can help
  • Counselling for Young People: I love working with teenagers. Their ability to have really frank conversations make them so great to work alongside
