Therapy Whanganui

I am a registered Dance Movement Therapist with a passion for using movement, somatic awareness and unique self-expression in a therapy setting. My approach is collaborative, caring, non-judgemental and client centered. I aim to be a guide, to support you in the navigation of challenging life issues, towards resolution, comfort and peace.

My belief is that we all hold innate wisdom within our mind/bodies that can support us in our journey to healing and wellness. I aim to work with clients towards the experience of the body not only being trusted, but the site of long lasting transformation and empowerment. I do this through somatic immersion, movement exploration and therapeutic alliance.

I have experience working with a number of populations including: women, clients experiencing post traumatic stress, youth, elderly and the special needs community. I aim to be open-minded, open-hearted, queer friendly, culturally aware and approachable.

I am available to support clients with issues including (not limited to): anxiety, depression, PTSD, identity exploration, self-esteem and body image.

Whanganui town is where I am based, across a few different locations and I am also available for online counselling sessions. I hold a Diploma of Dance Movement Therapy with DTNZ, I have a certificate in Mindful Somatic Trauma Therapy, and I am currently studying towards a Master of Counselling in Narrative Therapy.

Please feel free to get in touch with me. I would love to hear from you with any questions or to book an initial appointment.

An amazing therapist
I'm so glad I took the leap and started therapy! I was lucky to find Julie, who is an amazing therapist. She has a gift for giving you her full attention and really tuning in to what you're feeling, which made all the difference for me. Julie is a wonderful therapist who is totally present and attentive.

I don't even know where to begin to thank you, Julie. Your wisdom, kindness, and expertise have helped me find my way out of a dark place and into a brighter, more hopeful future. Our sessions together have had a profound impact on me, and I feel like I've been given a newfound sense of purpose and positivity. I left our last session feeling completely uplifted and empowered, and I'm so grateful for the tools and insights you've shared with me.
