Introduction

Kia ora, I'm Rebekah. I'm 31 and a qualified counsellor based in Christchurch and Rolleston. I offer counselling in-person and online. I am able to provide counselling for anyone who is over the age of 13.

I work hard to provide counselling that feels safe and welcoming where our sessions not only consist of exploring your issue at depth but also allow for moments of laughter and genuine connection to naturally emerge alongside our work. I aim to provide practical tools, active listening and a client/counsellor relationship that in itself facilitate growth.

Having been to counselling myself, I know how it feels to sit in the clients chair. This enhances my practice where I can meet my clients with a lived understanding of the vulnerability and emotional honesty that counselling requires. I also have experience counselling in a high school, and experience working with whānau and rangatahi within a care and protection setting.

I have a flexible schedule including afterhours availability. A free 15 minute consult is available so you can decide if I am the right counsellor for you. Whatever you've got going on, let's work together to find meaningful ways for you to move forward!

If you would like to know more, please contact me.

Most common issues I support people with:

Relational work - Research shows that it is the therapeutic relationship that dictates whether therapy is a success or not. I prioritise creating a safe, attuned, and collaborative therapeutic relationship where you will feel genuinely seen and understood. I also pay close attention to patterns that show up between us, and use the relationship itself as a vehicle for insight, repair, and change.

Lived Experience - I bring a lived understanding of the vulnerability and emotional honesty that counselling requires. This informs a compassionate, non-judgemental approach where I won't attempt to "fix” you, but instead support you to understand yourself with greater clarity.

Trauma-informed practice - I work in a trauma-informed way, recognising how early relational experiences, attachment wounds, and chronic stress can shape emotional regulation, self-concept, and relationships. Ensuring accurate pacing of sessions, emphasizing safety, nervous system regulation, and your autonomy. This allows you to explore difficult experiences without becoming overwhelmed or retraumatised.
